Digital PR
Also called: online PR, earned media
Definition
Digital PR covers the actions that get a brand talked about on sites it doesn't control: press articles, comparisons, podcasts, studies picked up by the media, expert contributions. In SEO, it mostly served to earn links. In GEO, the mentions themselves count, even without a link.
AI builds its picture of a brand from what the sources it trusts say about it. A brand regularly cited by recognized media in its industry is more likely to be associated with its category, and so recommended.
Example
A brand that publishes a study with figures on its market every year, picked up by the trade press, ends up being cited by AI on questions about that market, with its figures.
What it means for your AI visibility
Your site isn't enough to convince an AI: it wants to see that others talk about you. Aim for the media and sites the engines already cite on your questions.
