AI share of voice
Also called: share of voice in AI, LLM share of voice
Definition
AI share of voice is the proportion of mentions a brand gets among all the brand mentions found on a set of questions. If, across 50 answers, the brands in your category are named 200 times in total and yours 40 times, your share of voice is 20%.
It's a relative metric: it tells you whether you're gaining ground on your competitors, even when the total number of mentions moves. It also shows who dominates each engine, because the split often changes from one assistant to another.
Example
On “best business bank” questions, a neobank goes from 12% to 19% share of voice in three months while a competitor drops: a sign its actions are working.
What it means for your AI visibility
Your visibility alone doesn't tell you whether you're winning. Share of voice places you against your direct competitors, on the questions that matter to you.
